After shopping for big American manufacturers like Apple, Pepsi and Yahoo!, activist shareholders – investors in search of large dividends – now are putting their points of interest on European companies like Nestle.
“No corporation is clearly immune from activism except possibly for the very largest businesses,” says Gregory Taxin, dealing with director of Spotlight Advisory, a consulting company for activists.
The preferred objectives of activists, stated corporate lawyer David Katz, at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, are “companies that have a whole lot of coins that haven’t been again to shareholders.”
In announcing plans closing week to shop for $three.Five billion of Nestle stocks, US billionaire Daniel Loeb revealed the European ambitions of these traders with bulging wallets who say they want to repair energy to shareholders.
